riches and fame if you got game

Hello Ladies
Athletes make millions of dollars to play games, if that isn't bad enough they also get paid millions of dollars to endorse useless crap. I personally don't care which athlete endorses my shoes and my fragrance isn't one you'll find in a store (it has been described as an ashtray found in Jimi Hendrix's dressing room). The only thing endorsements really seem to do is drive up the price of a product simply because it has a celebrity name attached to it, stitched on it, or plastered all over it by various means, that's great for those who are selling it.

A Significant percentage of people are obsessed with their favorite athletes and snap up their products left and right, or strive to be like them. Athletes are subject to the same mental and emotional problems that regular people are, after all they are people too, just with more skill then you, add on heaps of scrutiny and no privacy, you're bound to start blowing fuses. It may sound cynical, but isn't that the best thing to have happen to someone who endorses your product? It's like they say "any press is good press" and people love scandal. I think it is hilarious that corporations attempt to distance themselves from scandals so rapidly, after your celebrity athlete has been through some rehab, the public will forgive them. I can't really comment on how endorsements affect an athlete's game, I suppose the stress associated with the endorsement could throw their game off but there is no real way to measure that affect. The use of athletes to endorse products isn't going to stop, they love money, and corporations and companies are all too willing to keep throwing it at them.

  1. It might stop if people stop buying products just because athletes endorse them. Eh, it's not like that's ever going to happen either. It pisses me off that a guy suddenly becomes admirable because he can swim fast. Has anyone ever heard Michael Phelps talk? I'm pretty sure he has some sort of learning disability. He sounds like Andre the Giant from The Princess Bride. I find the covetous nature athletic endorsements to be offensive.

  2. It doesnt matter one little bit how Micheal Phelps talk he's admirable because of how fast he can swim its kind of amazing and obviously not everyone can swim like him. Maybe thats why people look up to him because he may or may not have a learning disability or maybe just a speech impediment. ( my brother does but that doesnt make him stupid or slow! )

  4. Yes I agree the name drives up the prices. You can find that same style of clothing, apparel or anything else without the name for cheaper.

  5. I personally agree with your blog. It is crazy how an athlete or famous person can drive sales in advertisement and that is truthfully how it is done. Tiger Woods is a prime example. Good blog.

  6. A few years back when I was in high school my mother could only afford a certain pair of shoes for me, at school I always got tormented because of them. Today because an athlete endorses them they are the craze to have. What gives? Now I can't afford them.
